The Insider is a shared, 'opt-in' database of the details of audience members who are interested in receiving offers and information about visits to cultural venues and activities. 'Opt in' means we won't add your details to The Insider unless you confirm you would like us to do so and that you agree to the terms of this policy which explains what we do with the information in The Insider.
The Insider is a joint project by a group of leading North East based cultural organisations (the Newcastle Gateshead Cultural Venues Consortium or NGCV), operating venues across visual arts, performing arts, music, dance, film, writing and literature, heritage, archives and museums and science communication in North East England.
The current members of NGCV involved in The Insider are:
From time-to-time, other North East based cultural organisations may join or any of the above members may leave NGCV.
NGCV is supported by a research partner and technology partner:
When you join The Insider or otherwise provide us with your personal information, you consent to your name, contact details and family status being stored on our database, along with information you give us about your past, present and potential future interest in any of NGCV organisations, the cultural forms and programmes they provide and your preferences and attitudes.
Only once you have confirmed your express wish to 'opt in' will your data be added to The Insider which is then shared with the venues within NGCV. The Insider is a combined database of details which NGCV will use to make sure you receive offers that are particularly relevant to you and also helps ensure the speed and efficiency of any of your dealings with the venues involved in NGCV.
Helping NGCV operate and use The Insider are the research partner and technology partner identified above. The Insider will be shared with them so they can help NGCV to process your information in a carefully targeted way so you don't get bombarded with offers you are not interested in and to help us to store your information safely and securely and for these reasons we only allow them to use the information in The Insider for the purposes necessary to perform their obligations to NGCV. We do not allow them to use information in The Insider for their own use or marketing and we do not allow them to share it with any other third parties outside NGCV.
We will not share your personal information with any third parties apart from where you have given direct permission for such information to be passed on to specific third party organisations.
The personal information you supply helps us provide you with superior customer service and any offers for events and programmes at the cultural venues taking part in NGCV.

We may from time-to-time ask you for further information in order to update The Insider or for particular purposes. We will always tell you how we will use any further information received from you. Periodically, we will need to send you our website and service announcement updates.

Each member of NGCV is what is known as a data controller of the information held on our own databases and also jointly together we are the data controllers of The Insider. You can make a complaint to the ICO about our use of your information at any time, but of course we'd like to try and help you with any problems you are having first so please consider raising any issue or complaint you have with any one of NGCV's organisations first. Your satisfaction with our services is very important to all of us and we will always strive to resolve any problems and complaints you have wherever possible.
